Mas Camps is in the foothills of the Pyrenees, surrounded by vineyards and offers you an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life whilst only 20 minutes from the city of Perpignan with its convenient daily Ryanair and FlyBE flights to London, Birmingham and Southampton plus regular high speed (TGV) trains to Barcelona, Paris and Toulouse. Although in the country, we are about 40 minutes from the beach resort of Canet Plage, within an hour of the Spanish border, under 90 minutes to the ski resorts and 2½ hours from Andorra ie we are an excellent base for exploring the region.

Our rooms are a range of double, twin, triple and family ensuite rooms plus a small self-catering apartment for up to four people. Each of our rooms is uniquely decorated with the overall theme taken from the wines of the region and all with views of the vineyards and mountains. We offer you a choice of room only, bed and breakfast (B&B or chambres d'hôtes) or you can have half-board in conjunction with our restaurant.

In our restaurant, we offer you a wide range of dishes reflecting the international nature of our clientele. You can choose from our full à la carte menu or select from one of our fixed price menus from 14€ (two courses) to 40€ (three courses including wine). Half board options are available from 36€ per person. Our fully licensed restaurant stocks a range of the locally produced wines along with other alcoholic beverages and, of course, soft drinks. The adjacent Mas Camps winery offers tasting and tours can be arranged.

The local attractions are covered in detail in our regional guide but briefly we have, within 30 minutes drive, mountain scenery, Cathar and Templar history through the chateaux of Queribus (where the Cathars made their last stand)and Peyrepertuse, early European history in the Tautavel museum, cycling, walking and rambling, fishing, wine tasting, Perpignan (the Catalan city which Salvador Dali declared to be the "centre of the universe") and, of course, lovely houses to buy through the local estate agents should you want to stay a bit longer.

Taking in the local area, under an hour can take you to the Mediterranean beaches, numerous castles, canal trips, medieval villages such as Villefranche-de-Conflent and Castelnou, mountain railways (the Train Jaune), Roman roads in Narbonne, festivals such as Visa pour L'Image (the international photojournalism festival), kayaking, rafting and Spain. If you're on a motorbike, you can take advantage of our secure parking and enjoy all the twists and turns of the Pyrenees each day.

Within day-trip distance are sections of the Da Vinci Trail (Montsegur, Rennes le Chateau, etc.), Barcelona, the Salvador Dali haunts of Cadaques and Figures, the medieval walled city of Carcassonne, Andorra, ski resorts and numerous other attractions. Our day-trip page has some suggestions.

Or, in short, there is something to interest everyone.

Finally, for those of you just passing through on your way to or from Spain or Portugal we offer a peaceful break along the way in the heart of the Catalan countryside with its unique mix of French and Spanish cultures just 15 minutes from the A9 motorway exit at Perpignan. If you're flying in or out of Perpignan airport (PGF), we are a convenient place to start or end your holiday with free parking during your stay and an airport shuttle (plus the cheapest car rental in Perpignan via the link on our transport page).

Getting here ...

... is described in our transport section (through which you can book flights and car hire if required), but briefly Ryanair brings you to Perpignan, Carcassonne and Girona (from London Stansted), FlyBE arrives at Perpignan from Birmingham and Southampton. The high speed train TGV arrives in Perpignan from Paris and (soon) from Barcelona. Driving is equally easy via the A75 (tollfree apart from the bridge at Millau) to Beziers. Once you get to Perpignan (the city or airport), follow the signs for Foix which takes you along the D117 through the villages of Cases de Pène and then Estagel before you reach us (we are the large white building immediately to your left after you cross the second bridge out of Estagel). The direction signs are on our airport directions page and there is a map of the local area here.
